Antony Tudor ballets have appeared in every major ballet company around the globe for the last seven decades. As a dancer/choreographer with Ballet Rambert and a founding choreographer of American Ballet Theatre, Antony Tudor holds a legendary place in the history of ballet.
Princesses, sylphs, and swans have no place in Tudor’s choreography. His ballets are feted as being the first “psychological” ballets. Unlike the fantastic and fanciful premises of his contemporaries, Tudor’s inspiration was driven by complex emotions and distinct themes with universal, cross-cultural applications.
While Tudor ballets have the benefit of their timeless nature and are being performed all over the world at present, the year 2008 marks the Centennial of Antony Tudor’s birth, and a most appropriate time to commemorate the genius of Antony Tudor’s choreography.
We thank all our wonderful guests who participated (guest list PDF) at The Antony Tudor Centennial Celebration, and our very generous supporters (PDF) for helping to make this truly historic event possible at Lincoln Center on March 29 & 30, 2008.
The Trust is creating a Remembrance Book and DVD (order form) compilation of the Centennial weekend. We are only just beginning this immense project. Please be patient. We hope to have both produced in 2009. Proceeds from the sales of these items will fund a Dance Scholarship at the Juilliard School in Antony Tudor’s name.
Like the Centennial DVD & Book forthcoming, this website is under construction. In time, this site will prove a valuable, dynamic online destination for Performing Arts organizations, dancers and the general public, allowing immediate access to information on the complete works of Antony Tudor.
We welcome and encourage your support, suggestions and input. Please feel free to contact The Trust at any time for information on Antony Tudor ballets.
Most sincerely,
