Site Icons of the Twentieth Century
The Problem:
Sales. A best-selling author hired us to create a site for her latest work, a beautiful, insightful book that combines photographs of ,and text about, famous people of the twentieth century. She wanted the site to give prospective buyers and the press a clear idea of the look and feel of the book without giving too much away and destroying the incentive to buy.
The Solution:
Elegance. We took the design of the book and converted that look into an Internet format. Where the book used matte transparent paper to add an air of mystery, we muted the picture to create the same effect. We included just enough text to tantalize and just enough photographs to intrigue, leaving the browser eager to read more, see more, and buy our clients book. As with all our web projects, were always looking for ways to make our sites as interactive and fun to use as possible. For iconmania.com, we created an icon quiz, where the user just sees the eyes of a celebrity and has to guess who it is a very popular feature. Among other interesting links, we added reviews, an author biography and, of course, an order page.
The Results:
Spectacular. The author, Barbara Cady, loves the site and gets a lot of positive feedback.
