Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC)

Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC)PIDC is a non-profit Pennsylvania corporation, founded in 1958 by the City of Philadelphia and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce to promote economic development throughout the city of Philadelphia. PIDC's central strategy is to leverage financing and real estate resources to retain and to grow employment in Philadelphia.

PIDC needed a new site. One that would afford them complete control over the content of their entire site and to automate the financial loan application process. After putting the project up for bid to most (if not all) reputable Web development firms in Philadelphia, MostlyWeb was awarded the job.

The site's design, site map and navigation scheme were provided by the client. MostlyWeb converted their designs to Web templates and then built the entire database-driven site around the templates plus built them the accompanying Content Management System (CMS).The CMS tool lets them change virtually everything on the site including the text on the various Web pages, images and promo text, links, news stories, properties, and so on. We provided a JavaScript-based toolbar to let PIDC format text.

The toolbar uses standard icons like you would see in a Word processor rather than requiring PIDC users to learn (and use) HTML tags.In addition to the Web site and the CMS, we also built various utilities to help PIDC assign loan applications to internal personnel and track these applications throughout the approval process.
